Cranbourne Ski Trip 2019

A party of thirty seven of us set off to the ski resort of Artesina in the Western Italian Alps, during the February half-term and what a week we had!

There was no sign of a cloud all week and so with sunny skies and perfect slopes holding more than enough snow, we enjoyed the fun of the mountain and the beautiful scenery. Oh! and the odd plate of pasta and pizza to round off the day and fuel up for the next morning.

My particular highlights were seeing so many catch the skiing bug and for those that found out that skiing wasn’t quite for them, the enjoyment of a different culture and environment with new found friends in the glorious warm sunshine.

Personal development was seen in so many individuals who were away from home for the first time. And for those that had not skied before, the joy that comes when you finally ‘crack it’! The words: resilience and perseverance must still be ringing in a few ears!

Donutting (if you don’t know what this is and it’s nothing to do with eating), involved flying down an icy slope in the dark, spinning until you are dizzy in a rubber ring! Actually great fun once you come to terms with the fact that you will survive! And so we had many fun evenings and activities after skiing.

I actually felt quite sad when we arrived back after driving for an eternity to get home, such were the relationships that had grown amongst staff and students in the week that we were away.

A school ski trip gives so much and is well worth the cost and journey. I know that so many will be back again, why not try it for yourself?

Well done to everyone and thank you to Mr Roberts, Miss Clark and Miss Hawkins for their invaluable help and for making the week so memorable.
