  • SEND

At Cranbourne we believe that all students, including those with learning difficulties or disabilities, should have high aspirations and ambitions for their future.

All teachers at Cranbourne strive to deliver high quality, inclusive teaching in the classroom that is accessible to all students, however, we understand that students may need different levels of support to achieve their potential.

For some students, additional time might need to be spent with the Compass team to develop strategies to tackle their learning barriers and empower them to become champions of their own success.

The Compass is made up of four separate spaces around the school, with dedicated Learning Support Assistants who work with students within lessons, provide interventions and staff the Units at all time.

    • Year 7 – South Unit
    • Year 8 and 9 – East Unit
    • Year 10 and 11 – West Unit

    • They are referred by their Head of House or Tutor after discussions with parents
    • They are referred by a Head of Department following concerns regarding their progress after discussions with subject teachers
    • They are identified in our Year 7 screening programmes or when they start at Cranbourne in later years
    • Parents raise concerns with a member of staff
    • A diagnosis is made by a health professional
Students With An Education Health and Care Plan

Students with an Education, Health and Care Plan will have a named member of the Compass who will monitor their provision.

Although available for contact at any time, they will meet with parents regularly to review progress, hear concerns and suggest ways forwards.
