At Cranbourne we believe that all students, including those with learning difficulties or disabilities, should have high aspirations and ambitions for their future.
All teachers at Cranbourne strive to deliver high quality, inclusive teaching in the classroom that is accessible to all students, however, we understand that students may need different levels of support to achieve their potential.
For some students, additional time might need to be spent with the Compass team to develop strategies to tackle their learning barriers and empower them to become champions of their own success.
The Compass is made up of four separate spaces around the school, with dedicated Learning Support Assistants who work with students within lessons, provide interventions and staff the Units at all time.
Please note that each type of support is not necessarily relevant to all students. An individual package is put in place for each student in consultation with the student, parents, teaching staff, Compass Support Staff and, if applicable, outside agencies.
In addition, we work with a range of external agencies including:
Students are referred into the Compass through a number of routes:
Students with an Education, Health and Care Plan will have a named member of the Compass who will monitor their provision.
Although available for contact at any time, they will meet with parents regularly to review progress, hear concerns and suggest ways forwards.
At Cranbourne we have a dedicated provision for students with a specific learning difficulty. Please visit the dedicated Resourced Provision page for further information.
