At Cranbourne, we pride ourselves on being at the heart of our community. A welcoming 11-16 comprehensive school close to the town centre, our excellent facilities including expansive playing fields, swimming pool, Sports Hall, Fitness Suite, Hair and Beauty Salon and music rooms allow us to offer a diverse curriculum where students can immerse themselves in their passions. We promote a culture of respect, inclusivity and excellence encompassing our values of creativity, challenge, care and community. We are dedicated to the well-being of every student, and offer support through our specialist unit for students with Dyslexia, our SEN Department and mental health provision to ensure students feel safe, happy and supported.

Pupils feel happy and safe at Cranbourne. The opportunities pupils receive, both academically and beyond the subject curriculum, prepare them well for their next steps in employment, education or training.
Cranbourne students are very polite and helpful and made the primary students feel very welcomed at the Cluster Conference. Some of our girls were very nervous about coming to the 'big school' for the day, but they were instantly put at ease and had a fantastic time.
Cranbourne has cultivated a positive culture and ethos, focusing on creating a family feel and fostering positive relationships in lessons.
Student Leadership is phenomenal and staff adapt to student needs, focusing on whole-child development supported by the ethos curriculum, resulting in no disadvantaged gap.
It was lovely to see the staff and students talking about Cranbourne with such pride and enthusiasm. They really care about their school and are whole heartedly committed to making Cranbourne a safe, supportive and enjoyable place for our young people to be able to learn and thrive.
Leaders use their knowledge of pupils' needs to ensure that they get the right support at the right time. Staff use effective strategies to help pupils to overcome the barriers to learning that they face.

Congratulations to Year 8 student Blake who took part in his very first Stand Up Paddleboarding Race during SUPerfest at the ICF SUP World Cup in Torquay. Despite being the youngest paddler in the whole competition, plus it being his first time competing, Blake came home with second place for both the Sprint and Technical races in the Juniors category. Well done Blake, that is truly an incredible achievement from your very first competition! We can't wait to see what you do next, the Cranbourne Community will be cheering you on!
The latest edition of The Cranbourne Catch Up is out now! Read all about Day of Sport, our Summer Concert and the many trips our students have attended. Find it on the Edulink noticeboard or online at www.cranbourne.hants.sch.uk/newsletter
From Monday, students are expected to be back in full uniform. We continue to monitor the weather and will communicate any changes if necessary. Please continue to ensure students are bringing water bottles with them to stay hydrated throughout the day.
We've got one more event in our Arts Month line up taking place on Thursday 9 July. Year 10 will be treating us to an immersive retelling of A Midsummer Night's Dream, followed by Year 9 performing 'Tuesday'. Both plays will blur the lines between performer and spectator and it's sure to be an enjoyable evening! Tickets are still available to book – visit www.ticketsource.co.uk/cranbourne-school
Congratulations to Demi W and Olivia G who travelled to Lisbon last weekend to compete in the first ever European Summit Championships. Their team, Weapon X were crowned European Champions! Once again, the girls have impressed the Cranbourne Community with their dedication and commitment to their sport – we're so proud of you!
It's day one of our 1% better raffle draw, where we are celebrating students that have improved their attendance over this term. The £10 Greggs voucher goes to Brooklyn, Isabel is taking home a £10 Amazon voucher, and James will be enjoying the selection of Smints! Congratulations to you all – we'll have our next draw tomorrow! Thank you to Mrs Geary, Mr Searby and Mrs Davenport for doing the honours!
On Wednesday 17 June, we hosted our annual Summer Concert as part of our Arts Month. Students delivered a truly fantastic night of talent – their passion for the arts is so inspiring and it makes us so proud to watch the Cranbourne Community shine. As always, a huge thank you to our incredible Performing Arts Department who spend countless hours ensuring events like this can run so smoothly. It takes a lot of patience, dedication and enthusiasm to organise so many spectacular events throughout the year and the support and encouragement you give to our students is truly invaluable. We've got one more event in our Arts Month line up taking place on Thursday 9 July – tickets are still available at www.ticketsource.co.uk/cranbourne-school
Congratulations to Emma who competed at the South East Schools' Combined Events Reginal Finals on 28 June, smashing her personal bests in both hurdles and pentathlon. The Hampshire team earned second place overall, which is a fantastic achievement. We're awaiting further results to find out if Emma has scored enough points to be invited to the finals – let's all keep our fingers crossed!
On Friday 3 July, we will be welcoming Year 6 students to Cranbourne for their rescheduled Transition Day. We're expecting the school site to be very busy – to help keep everyone safe, please do not arrive any earlier than 8.45am. We do not allow cars onto the school site and parking is extremely limited. Please be mindful and respectful to our neighbours in the surrounding roads and do not park across driveways or block junctions. Where possible we're asking parents and carers to walk or use public transport.
On Friday 26 June, our Year 11 leavers braved the hot weather to attend their Leavers Prom, hosted at Sherfield Oaks. The evening was an opportunity for them to wrap up their time at Cranbourne and celebrate all they have achieved. They arrived in style, dressed to impress and eager to have a night to remember! After enjoying a buffet and spending time in the photo booth, students made their way to the dance floor, encouraged by Mr Juliff and Mr Turner who impressed us all with their moves! Prom photos have been uploaded to a shared Google Drive folder and a link has been emailed to students. We hope you enjoyed your night, and we'll see you on Thursday 20 August for Results Day!
On Saturday 27 June, Year 7 student Jack W passed his purple belt grading in karate with a first class pass! A fantastic achievement Jack, well done! Seeing so many of our students accomplish such brilliant things outside of school makes us so proud of our incredible Cranbourne Community, they truly embody our school values both inside and outside of the classroom!
On Thursday 18 June, we held our annual Day of Sport, where students got stuck into a variety of team events including Tug of War, rounders and relay races. We had a great time watching them all show their competitive streak and get involved in every event with such enthusiasm. They kept their spirits up throughout the entire day, encouraging their peers and cheering them on as they competed. The House spirit on display was truly fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the creative ways our students had accessorised their PE kits, from tutus and glitter to whole body paint! Their behaviour throughout the day was exemplary and made us really proud of the way our community comes together to celebrate what makes us Cranbourne. A huge thank you to our incredible PE Department for all their hard work and efforts in enabling the day to run so smoothly. We had lots of disruption and last minute changes in the run up to the event, but Mrs Triquart pulled out all the stops to ensure the day went ahead as planned. Participation = points and The Swimming Gala on Monday 6 July is the final chance to earn bonus points to boost the winning House into first place. Results will be announced during the Whole School Assembly on the last day of term. Austen took home the Gold last year, but who will be the 2026 champions? We can't wait to find out!
On Friday 19 and Monday 22 June, our Year 8 students travelled to London to visit the Natural History Museum, London. Despite being very hot and sunny days, students loved exploring the exhibits and learning lots about dinosaur fossils, how Earth was formed and the history of earthquakes and volcanoes! They were especially delighted to discover the Cranbourne meteorite – our Cranbourne Community just got bigger! Be sure to read the Cranbourne Catch Up this week for a full review of the trip.

Thank you for your patience and continued support throughout this week. Our students have acted responsibly, maturely and have made us very proud. We are pleased to confirm school will resume as normal from Monday, with students expected in school for the full duration of the day. Whilst there is no weather warning in place, temperatures are still predicted to be in the mid to high twenties, therefore students are permitted to wear their PE kit for the duration of next week to help them stay cool. We will continue to closely monitor the weather and will communicate any changes should they be necessary.
