At Cranbourne, we pride ourselves on being at the heart of our community. A welcoming 11-16 comprehensive school close to the town centre, our excellent facilities including expansive playing fields, swimming pool, Sports Hall, Fitness Suite, Hair and Beauty Salon and music rooms allow us to offer a diverse curriculum where students can immerse themselves in their passions. We promote a culture of respect, inclusivity and excellence encompassing our values of creativity, challenge, care and community. We are dedicated to the well-being of every student, and offer support through our specialist unit for students with Dyslexia, our SEN Department and mental health provision to ensure students feel safe, happy and supported.

Cranbourne students are very polite and helpful and made the primary students feel very welcomed at the Cluster Conference. Some of our girls were very nervous about coming to the 'big school' for the day, but they were instantly put at ease and had a fantastic time.
Cranbourne has cultivated a positive culture and ethos, focusing on creating a family feel and fostering positive relationships in lessons.
Student Leadership is phenomenal and staff adapt to student needs, focusing on whole-child development supported by the ethos curriculum, resulting in no disadvantaged gap.
It was lovely to see the staff and students talking about Cranbourne with such pride and enthusiasm. They really care about their school and are whole heartedly committed to making Cranbourne a safe, supportive and enjoyable place for our young people to be able to learn and thrive.
I am proud to be a member of the Cranbourne Community. Being a part of our students' educational journey is so special.

On 29 January, our girls football team travelled to The Hurst for their semi-final fixture against Everest. After going 2-0 down in the first half, the girls came back stronger and with great determination to take the game to 2-2 at the final whistle. It then went on to penalties and after a sudden death, the girls unfortunately lost the match. We're so proud of their courage taking a penalty under pressure and their resilience throughout. The team then went on to play the 3rd place play-off against Blue Coat and based on previous fixtures against them, we knew we were in for a tough match! Our girls however really shone through and played some great football! With some great passing, teamwork and strength, the team pulled off a 4-0 win! Congratulations to the whole team, you played amazingly and did the Cranbourne Community very proud!
Before Christmas, we asked for donations for Camrose Centre for Homeless and Vulnerably Housed People as part of our Social Action Project. We were once again blown away by the generosity of our parents, carers and students and are so pleased to be able to help vulnerable members of our community. We raised £78 in cash and received a large amount of food, clothing and toiletry donations, including: 87 toiletry items 21 jars of sauce 130 tins of vegetables 64 bags of pasta, rice and noodles multiple packets of socks, underwear, hats and gloves 7 puddings, 10 boxes of chocolates and a whopping 28 packets of biscuits A big thank you to Mrs Reddy and our Student Leadership who visited the Camrose Centre last week to deliver the items, and of course to all who sent a donation into school!
Following the recent tragic death of a 17 year old on Winchester Road, local residents are calling for an urgent review of the road's safety measures. Many families have raised concerns about children having to cross this busy road to reach the three schools - including ours - located nearby. The current speed limit is 30mph along Winchester Road, there is only one crossing and very little signage to signal to drivers to slow down owing to the three schools that are close by. Residents have asked us to share their petition so they can demonstrate the strength of community concern and push for action: https://www.change.org/p/urge-hampshire-council-to-review-winchester-road-s-traffic-measures They are also inviting children, with parental consent, to write about their experiences walking to school and crossing Winchester Road. These letters will be sent to Kim Taylor, Hampshire County Councillor for Basingstoke, to support the case for improved safety. Correspondence can be sent to: c/o Democratic and Member Services Hampshire County Council The Castle Winchester SO23 8UJ Email: cllr.kim.taylor@hants.gov.uk

On Friday 23 January, we were delighted to welcome the School Councils from our cluster schools to Cranbourne for our annual Cluster Conference. This year's theme was 'Disconnect to Reconnect', where we explored a smartphone-free world and how we can use our communication skills to connect with each other – without using screens! Throughout the day, the students engaged in a number of activities ranging from creative crafts to communication bingo. Our Green Cranbourne students organised the Nature Texture Trail, where students used their senses to explore the great outdoors and collect 10 items. Mr Kimber turned our Gym into a fantastic obstacle course - which had to be completed whilst blindfolded! The students put their communication skills to the test and worked together to problem solve. We were so impressed by how well the younger students engaged with every activity and got stuck in. Our Student Ambassadors were enthusiastic and encouraging leaders and truly a credit to the Cranbourne Community. A big thank you to Miss Miller and all staff involved in organising the conference, we hope our cluster schools had a great time! We're already looking forward to next year's event!
On Thursday 22 January, our KS3 Green Cranbourne students attended the Climate Conference, hosted at Queen Mary's College, Basingstoke. The day was organised by The Vyne School and our students engaged in a number of exciting activities from talks about endangered species, and climate literacy to practicals testing PH levels of liquids and creative painting. We were blown away with the confidence shown by our students throughout the day, asking thought provoking questions about wildlife conservation and answering some tough questions. A big thank you to all involved in organising such a fantastic event! Be sure to read this week's Cranbourne Catch Up for the full write up!
Don't forget we open the Cranbourne Food Pantry every Thursday between 11.15am and 12.15pm for members of our Cranbourne Community to take what they need – no questions asked.
On Friday 23 January, 40 of our students travelled to Utilita Arena Birmingham and spent an unforgettable evening watching Strictly Come Dancing: The Live Tour. Our students were a real credit to Cranbourne, displaying impeccable behaviour throughout the event. They enthusiastically cheered and clapped along, fully engaged in the electric atmosphere. The scale, professionalism and energy of the show offered our students a valuable insight into live performance and the performing arts industry leaving students inspired and excited. A big thank you to Mr Juliff, Mrs Vaughan and Mrs Owen for attending and allowing our students to have this incredible opportunity!
