At Cranbourne, we pride ourselves on being at the heart of our community. A welcoming 11-16 comprehensive school close to the town centre, our excellent facilities including expansive playing fields, swimming pool, Sports Hall, Fitness Suite, Hair and Beauty Salon and music rooms allow us to offer a diverse curriculum where students can immerse themselves in their passions. We promote a culture of respect, inclusivity and excellence encompassing our values of creativity, challenge, care and community. We are dedicated to the well-being of every student, and offer support through our specialist unit for students with Dyslexia, our SEN Department and mental health provision to ensure students feel safe, happy and supported.

Pupils feel happy and safe at Cranbourne. The opportunities pupils receive, both academically and beyond the subject curriculum, prepare them well for their next steps in employment, education or training.
Cranbourne students are very polite and helpful and made the primary students feel very welcomed at the Cluster Conference. Some of our girls were very nervous about coming to the 'big school' for the day, but they were instantly put at ease and had a fantastic time.
Cranbourne has cultivated a positive culture and ethos, focusing on creating a family feel and fostering positive relationships in lessons.
Student Leadership is phenomenal and staff adapt to student needs, focusing on whole-child development supported by the ethos curriculum, resulting in no disadvantaged gap.
It was lovely to see the staff and students talking about Cranbourne with such pride and enthusiasm. They really care about their school and are whole heartedly committed to making Cranbourne a safe, supportive and enjoyable place for our young people to be able to learn and thrive.
Leaders use their knowledge of pupils' needs to ensure that they get the right support at the right time. Staff use effective strategies to help pupils to overcome the barriers to learning that they face.

On Friday 26 June, our Year 11 leavers braved the hot weather to attend their Leavers Prom, hosted at Sherfield Oaks. The evening was an opportunity for them to wrap up their time at Cranbourne and celebrate all they have achieved. They arrived in style, dressed to impress and eager to have a night to remember! After enjoying a buffet and spending time in the photo booth, students made their way to the dance floor, encouraged by Mr Juliff and Mr Turner who impressed us all with their moves! Prom photos have been uploaded to a shared Google Drive folder and a link has been sent to students on Edulink. We hope you enjoyed your night, and we'll see you on Thursday 20 August for Results Day!
On Saturday 27 June, Year 7 student Jack W passed his purple belt grading in karate with a first class pass! A fantastic achievement Jack, well done! Seeing so many of our students accomplish such brilliant things outside of school makes us so proud of our incredible Cranbourne Community, they truly embody our school values both inside and outside of the classroom!
On Thursday 18 June, we held our annual Day of Sport, where students got stuck into a variety of team events including Tug of War, rounders and relay races. We had a great time watching them all show their competitive streak and get involved in every event with such enthusiasm. They kept their spirits up throughout the entire day, encouraging their peers and cheering them on as they competed. The House spirit on display was truly fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the creative ways our students had accessorised their PE kits, from tutus and glitter to whole body paint! Their behaviour throughout the day was exemplary and made us really proud of the way our community comes together to celebrate what makes us Cranbourne. A huge thank you to our incredible PE Department for all their hard work and efforts in enabling the day to run so smoothly. We had lots of disruption and last minute changes in the run up to the event, but Mrs Triquart pulled out all the stops to ensure the day went ahead as planned. Participation = points and The Swimming Gala on Monday 6 July is the final chance to earn bonus points to boost the winning House into first place. Results will be announced during the Whole School Assembly on the last day of term. Austen took home the Gold last year, but who will be the 2026 champions? We can't wait to find out!
On Friday 19 and Monday 22 June, our Year 8 students travelled to London to visit the Natural History Museum, London. Despite being very hot and sunny days, students loved exploring the exhibits and learning lots about dinosaur fossils, how Earth was formed and the history of earthquakes and volcanoes! They were especially delighted to discover the Cranbourne meteorite – our Cranbourne Community just got bigger! Be sure to read the Cranbourne Catch Up this week for a full review of the trip.

Thank you for your patience and continued support throughout this week. Our students have acted responsibly, maturely and have made us very proud. We are pleased to confirm school will resume as normal from Monday, with students expected in school for the full duration of the day. Whilst there is no weather warning in place, temperatures are still predicted to be in the mid to high twenties, therefore students are permitted to wear their PE kit for the duration of next week to help them stay cool. We will continue to closely monitor the weather and will communicate any changes should they be necessary.
On Monday 22 June, our Year 9 Performing Arts students visited The Creative Emporium to assist Scratch Built Productions with the installation of 'The Toy Hospital' as part of their ongoing Creative Project. The visit provided a valuable insight into the realities of theatre production – performance does not simply appear overnight! They experienced first hand the hard work, planning, design, construction and teamwork required to transform a creative idea into a fully functioning production space. Watching the installation process in action helped them to understand the many roles involved behind the scenes and how every detail contributes to the audience experience. Once the space was ready, students stepped into character and began to explore how their characters would interact with visitors and prepared for their upcoming shifts at the Toy Hospital over the coming weekends. If you're in town over the next few weekends be sure to pay them a visit – they'll be ready and waiting to give your favourite teddy bear or toy a check-up, diagnosis and remedy! A huge thank you to both Scratch Built Productions and Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council for providing such a fantastic opportunity for our students to participate in. We're so proud of the professionalism, enthusiasm and creativity our students have shown throughout this project!
The Cranbourne Community wants to congratulate Year 11 student Fireniece who has been offered a place studying Level 6 Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre at Laine Theatre Arts! Well done Fireniece, what an amazing achievement! Your dedication, commitment and passion to the arts is inspiring to us all!

The Canteen will remain open until 1.20pm for students wishing to get a cold lunch before leaving. Our Year 6 Transition Day tomorrow (26.06.26) has been postponed and rescheduled to take place on Friday 3 July. Primary schools have been notified and a letter has been sent to parents and carers. We appreciate this change may cause inconvenience and frustration to some, however the safety and wellbeing of our students must come first. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding throughout this week.

Today we said goodbye to our Year 11 students at their Leavers' Assembly. After a quick trip down memory lane, students gathered on the field for shirt signing and to enjoy a well-deserved ice cream from Rossi's. We're so proud of the immense amount of dedication and commitment shown to not just your individual studies but also to our Cranbourne Community. You've supported at school events, become exceptional role models for our younger students and have truly embodied our school values in all that you do. We've watched you grow into mature, motivated and responsible young adults and we know the knowledge, character and sense of purpose you've developed during your time at Cranbourne will take you far as you continue to strive for excellence in everything you do. We're wishing you lots of luck as you take the next steps in your journeys – remember you'll always be part of the Cranbourne Family. We'll see you on Friday for Prom!
Due to the hot temperatures predicted next week, students do not need to wear blazers or ties to school. All other uniform should be worn as normal. Don't forget shorts can also be worn as part of our summer uniform – they must be purchased via Skoolkit: https://www.skoolkit.co.uk/school-uniform/130 It is essential that students bring water bottles with them as we do not keep paper cups on site. We have multiple water fountains around school where they can refill their bottles as needed throughout the day. Alternatively they can purchase water for 50p from our snack shacks and canteen.
