At Cranbourne, we pride ourselves on being at the heart of our community. A welcoming 11-16 comprehensive school close to the town centre, our excellent facilities including expansive playing fields, swimming pool, Sports Hall, Fitness Suite, Hair and Beauty Salon and music rooms allow us to offer a diverse curriculum where students can immerse themselves in their passions. We promote a culture of respect, inclusivity and excellence encompassing our values of creativity, challenge, care and community. We are dedicated to the well-being of every student, and offer support through our specialist unit for students with Dyslexia, our SEN Department and mental health provision to ensure students feel safe, happy and supported.

Cranbourne students are very polite and helpful and made the primary students feel very welcomed at the Cluster Conference. Some of our girls were very nervous about coming to the 'big school' for the day, but they were instantly put at ease and had a fantastic time.
Cranbourne has cultivated a positive culture and ethos, focusing on creating a family feel and fostering positive relationships in lessons.
Student Leadership is phenomenal and staff adapt to student needs, focusing on whole-child development supported by the ethos curriculum, resulting in no disadvantaged gap.
It was lovely to see the staff and students talking about Cranbourne with such pride and enthusiasm. They really care about their school and are whole heartedly committed to making Cranbourne a safe, supportive and enjoyable place for our young people to be able to learn and thrive.
I am proud to be a member of the Cranbourne Community. Being a part of our students' educational journey is so special.

On Friday 13 March, #TECHOGNITION was celebrated across the UK, an initiative to promote the wonderful work technical staff do behind the scenes to help facilitate learning. To cap off the end of British Science Week, Mrs Rhodes our Senior Science Technician organised a festival over lunch time to allow staff to relive secondary school science experiments. Staff had great fun getting stuck in, from analysing fingerprints to exploring the density of liquids and channelling our inner creatives with chromatography trolls. A huge thank you to all of our technicians supporting students in Science, DT, Art, Food and Reprographics. We're so grateful for everything you do!
On Friday 13 March, our catering suppliers KFF visited Cranbourne to host a cooking demonstration with some of our students. Development Chef Mark arrived with some fresh recipe ideas and after trying their hand at cooking, students had the chance to give them a taste. Feedback was very positive, and we're looking forward to adding these to our catering menu in the future!
Last week (11 March), our Year 11 GCSE Music students visited Queen Mary's College, North Hampshire to record their ensemble pieces in their recording studio. Our students enjoyed experiencing using professional equipment and gaining insight into the process. A huge thank you to Simon, Rob and Frank at QMC for giving up their time to work with and support our students. They were nervous to be performing in an unfamiliar environment but the encouragement you gave put them at ease, and they returned to us much more confident in their abilities.

Thank you to Young Interpreters Piper and Felicity who have been hard at work making badges for members of staff to showcase the languages they speak. At Cranbourne we're very proud of how diverse our community is and celebrate all the different cultures that make us who we are. Did you know that amongst our staff and students we speak more than 50 different languages? Our Young Interpreters programme provides peer support to students who are learning English as an additional language and help them to settle into our school environment. Well done, Piper and Felicity!

We are thrilled to celebrate the success of Year 8 student Ellis C who recently competed at the Men's and Women's English Championships held at the Telford International Centre. Ellis competed in the Under 14 category and achieved an impressive 6th place All Around overall - a fantastic accomplishment that reflects his dedication and skill. Ellis secured a silver medal on Vault, alongside strong performances on Floor, Parallel Bars and High Bar. Ellis's exceptional scores have earned him automatic qualification for the prestigious British Championships in Liverpool. The Cranbourne Community is so proud of you Ellis, and we'll be cheering you in Liverpool!
Don't forget it's Year 9 Parents' Evening this Wednesday (11 March). There's still time to book appointments via Edulink.
Last week, as part of their exploration of The BFG, Year 7 Drama students created 'Role on the Wall' homework for Roald Dahl's Bad Giants, combining character analysis with costume design ideas. They thought carefully about the giants' personalities, physical traits, and how these could be represented visually through clothing, colour, and texture. The results were brilliant from gruesome details and imaginative backstories to bold, inventive costume concepts. The level of thought and creativity on display is fantastic to see!
The latest edition of The Cranbourne Catch Up is out now! Read all about the Spring Concert, new enrichment clubs and news from the PE Department. Find it on the Edulink Noticeboard or online: www.cranbourne.hants.sch.uk/newsletter
