At Cranbourne, we pride ourselves on being at the heart of our community. A welcoming 11-16 comprehensive school close to the town centre, our excellent facilities including expansive playing fields, swimming pool, Sports Hall, Fitness Suite, Hair and Beauty Salon and music rooms allow us to offer a diverse curriculum where students can immerse themselves in their passions. We promote a culture of respect, inclusivity and excellence encompassing our values of creativity, challenge, care and community. We are dedicated to the well-being of every student, and offer support through our specialist unit for students with Dyslexia, our SEN Department and mental health provision to ensure students feel safe, happy and supported.

Pupils feel happy and safe at Cranbourne. The opportunities pupils receive, both academically and beyond the subject curriculum, prepare them well for their next steps in employment, education or training.
Cranbourne students are very polite and helpful and made the primary students feel very welcomed at the Cluster Conference. Some of our girls were very nervous about coming to the 'big school' for the day, but they were instantly put at ease and had a fantastic time.
Cranbourne has cultivated a positive culture and ethos, focusing on creating a family feel and fostering positive relationships in lessons.
Student Leadership is phenomenal and staff adapt to student needs, focusing on whole-child development supported by the ethos curriculum, resulting in no disadvantaged gap.
It was lovely to see the staff and students talking about Cranbourne with such pride and enthusiasm. They really care about their school and are whole heartedly committed to making Cranbourne a safe, supportive and enjoyable place for our young people to be able to learn and thrive.
Leaders use their knowledge of pupils' needs to ensure that they get the right support at the right time. Staff use effective strategies to help pupils to overcome the barriers to learning that they face.

The results are in! Day of Sport saw students compete in various sports events to earn points for their House. It was truly fantastic day where we enjoyed watching our students show incredible enthusiasm, sportsmanship and embrace their House Spirit. Participation = points and for the second year running Austen showed up where it counts, earning themselves 1689 points and taking home the gold! White House did a phenomenal job, winning in three out of four of the events categories, but the Swimming Gala was once again where everything changed. Austen earnt themselves a whopping 501 points here, launching them into the lead, with Thomson earning an additional 386 points, allowing them to sneak ahead into second place. Congratulations to Miss Alner and all of our Austen students - can you make 2027 a hat trick? 1st place - Austen with 1689 points 2nd place - Thomson with 1533 points 3rd place - White with 1520 points 4th place - Andrew Lloyd Webber with 1216 points
On Thursday 16 July, students who maintained their attendance streak earned their invitation to the end of term disco. Students had the chance to unwind, sing along to some of their favourite songs and have a dance party! Mx Philo and Miss Wood got them all dancing along to the Cha Cha Slide and YMCA was a firm favourite with our Year 8s. Year 10 had a great time forming dance circles and encouraging each other to show off their best moves, and ended their session with a sing along to Wonderwall! We're so grateful to be able to host these kinds of events for our students to reward them for their hard work, dedication and commitment to their education.
Last night (15 July) we celebrated an evening of excellence at our Summer Rewards' Evening. It was a fantastic opportunity to welcome parents to our school and reflect on the achievements and success of the Cranbourne Community. Cranbourne Vocal Band opened the evening with their performance of 'Count on Me' and Year 9 student Archie impressed us with his rendition of Sinatra's 'L.O.V.E'. The prestigious Headteachers Award went to Sochinaza for her continuous engagement in enrichment across the academic year. We are so proud of our wonderful students who work so hard in all that they do and hope they continue to strive towards excellence in everything.
During the summer months, many young people spend time around open waters which can pose series risks, even when it appears calm or safe. It doesn't take long for things to go wrong – even for strong swimmers. Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK have a great guide for how to have important conversations with young people to educate them on the risks and how to keep themselves safe: https://www.rlss.org.uk/water-safety-for-teenagers The latest edition of our Safeguarding newsletter is dedicated to open water safety. Read it online at www.cranbourne.hants.sch.uk/safeguarding
Major football tournaments bring people together, but for some, they also bring increased risk. Research shows that domestic abuse can escalate during high-profile matches. Domestic abuse can affect anyone and is not always physical. It can include emotional or psychological abuse, controlling or coercive behaviour, financial abuse, threats and intimidation, and online or digital abuse. You do not have to do this alone. The rail network helps get people to where they need to be, but can also pose many risks, especially to young people. Unsafe behaviour around railway tracks, stations, overhead line equipment and level crossings leads to severe, life-threatening and criminal consequences. Staying switched on around the tracks is essential to keep everyone safe. Lots of helpful resources can be found online at https://switchedonrailsafety.co.uk/12-16-years/resources/
We have some lost property items from this half term that remain unclaimed. If any of these items belong to your child, please ask them to visit Reception before the end of term. Items will be donated to our second-hand uniform shop or to charity if not collected.
