At Cranbourne, we pride ourselves on being at the heart of our community. A welcoming 11-16 comprehensive school close to the town centre, our excellent facilities including expansive playing fields, swimming pool, Sports Hall, Fitness Suite, Hair and Beauty Salon and music rooms allow us to offer a diverse curriculum where students can immerse themselves in their passions. We promote a culture of respect, inclusivity and excellence encompassing our values of creativity, challenge, care and community. We are dedicated to the well-being of every student, and offer support through our specialist unit for students with Dyslexia, our SEN Department and mental health provision to ensure students feel safe, happy and supported.

Cranbourne students are very polite and helpful and made the primary students feel very welcomed at the Cluster Conference. Some of our girls were very nervous about coming to the 'big school' for the day, but they were instantly put at ease and had a fantastic time.
Cranbourne has cultivated a positive culture and ethos, focusing on creating a family feel and fostering positive relationships in lessons.
Student Leadership is phenomenal and staff adapt to student needs, focusing on whole-child development supported by the ethos curriculum, resulting in no disadvantaged gap.
It was lovely to see the staff and students talking about Cranbourne with such pride and enthusiasm. They really care about their school and are whole heartedly committed to making Cranbourne a safe, supportive and enjoyable place for our young people to be able to learn and thrive.
I am proud to be a member of the Cranbourne Community. Being a part of our students' educational journey is so special.

We are extremely grateful to members of our community who have offered part of their allotment space to support our Green Cranbourne initiative. On Friday 20 March, our Horticulture students visited for the first time, taking inspiration from other plots, clearing palettes and preparing the space. Over the coming months, we hope to grow more fruits and vegetables to be used in our Canteen, helping to reduce the food miles we generate.

It is really important that our students act sensibly, safely and appropriately on their way to and from school. Students should be using the designated crossings to cross the road, and only doing so when it is safe and the road is clear. Mobile phone use near the road causes a dangerous distraction for young people. According to research from Churchill Motor Insurance, one in five secondary school pupils using their phones while walking have been involved in an accident or near miss. Please remind your child about the importance of staying alert and aware of their surroundings. If your child cycles to school, it is essential they are wearing a helmet, stick to cycle paths where possible, and dismount when entering school site. As you are aware, we do not allow cars to drive onto our school site and have staff on the gate at the start and end of the school day to support this. We ask parents and carers to continue to be respectful and considerate towards our residents when parking in the surrounding areas. Lots of information on road safety can be found here: https://www.think.gov.uk/
Our Year 9 Drama students have been busy designing and creating their own Commedia dell'arte masks, bringing classic characters to life with creativity, precision and flair. Their fantastic masks were used in the practical assessments, applying theatre skills, characterisation and stylised performance techniques with real confidence. An excellent blend of practical design and performance, brilliant work, Year 9!

We've listened to student feedback and are looking to expand the range of industries in attendance this year. Perhaps you work in a creative industry or are a hair and beauty specialist? Or are you a tradesperson, or a mechanic working in a hands on role? We're interested in hearing from people in all kinds of roles to share their insight and inspire our students. If you're interested in helping to shape a young person's future, please get in touch with Mrs Pope at a.pope@cranbourne.hants.sch.uk

On Friday 13 March, #TECHOGNITION was celebrated across the UK, an initiative to promote the wonderful work technical staff do behind the scenes to help facilitate learning. To cap off the end of British Science Week, Mrs Rhodes our Senior Science Technician organised a festival over lunch time to allow staff to relive secondary school science experiments. Staff had great fun getting stuck in, from analysing fingerprints to exploring the density of liquids and channelling our inner creatives with chromatography trolls. A huge thank you to all of our technicians supporting students in Science, DT, Art, Food and Reprographics. We're so grateful for everything you do!
On Friday 13 March, our catering suppliers KFF visited Cranbourne to host a cooking demonstration with some of our students. Development Chef Mark arrived with some fresh recipe ideas and after trying their hand at cooking, students had the chance to give them a taste. Feedback was very positive, and we're looking forward to adding these to our catering menu in the future!
Last week (11 March), our Year 11 GCSE Music students visited Queen Mary's College, North Hampshire to record their ensemble pieces in their recording studio. Our students enjoyed experiencing using professional equipment and gaining insight into the process. A huge thank you to Simon, Rob and Frank at QMC for giving up their time to work with and support our students. They were nervous to be performing in an unfamiliar environment but the encouragement you gave put them at ease, and they returned to us much more confident in their abilities.
