Hair and Beauty at Cranbourne is a vocational subject which aims to give students insight into the Hair and Beauty industries, encourages good work ethic and personal attributes.
Our salon facilities provide a realistic learning environment which enables students to explore this industry and gain valuable skills and experience. The courses include both theory and practical elements of study looking at the industry, career opportunities and a range of services.
At Key Stage 3, students begin by learning about health and safety of both the salon, each other and clients before beginning to learn practical skills such as french plaits, historical hairstyles and manicures. They will learn about diseases of the hair and nails, researching them in more detail and how they will need to apply this knowledge to their practical skills.
By Key Stage 4, students will be working through the exam booklet which covers many areas of the industry, before sitting their exam in January. Students will then complete assessments in other areas of the course whilst they learn how to shampoo hair, blow dry and many other styling techniques, along with manicures and facials practicals. When confident, they will have friends and family come in for one of the services they have mastered.
