The atmosphere at Cranbourne Secondary School was electric as students, teachers, and parents gathered to celebrate an excellent GCSE Results Day. Months of hard work, determination, and perseverance culminated in a day of joy and achievement for the Year 11 cohort, who were met with the much-anticipated envelopes that revealed their academic success.
As students nervously opened their results, the air was filled with excitement, relief, and pride. The sight of smiling faces, tears of joy, and celebratory hugs was a testament to the hard work that had been put in by both students and staff alike. Cranbourne’s headteacher, Miss Sarah Conlon, expressed her pride in the students’ achievements, stating, “Today is a day of celebration for our entire school community. The resilience and dedication shown by our students is truly commendable. These results reflect not just their academic abilities but their strength of character.”
Among the top performers was Luize Cakstina, who achieved ten GCSEs, nine at grade 9, the highest possible grade. Reflecting on her success, Luize said, ‘It’s all about the long game, you have to start working as hard as you can as early as you can, I’m really happy and relieved and ready to take the next step in my journey’.
Equally impressive was the performance of Josh Omosebi securing ten GCSEs, and grade 9 in physics, chemistry, English and Religious Studies. Josh attributed his success to the supportive environment at Cranbourne, noting’ I worked really hard, studied every day and had my friends and family to support me. I prayed a lot and used that motivation to get the results I have today’.
The success of Cranbourne’s students can also be attributed to the school’s dedicated staff, who went above and beyond to ensure that every student had the resources and support needed to succeed. The introduction of after-school revision sessions, one-on-one mentoring, curry revision evening and wellbeing support has paid off. Mr Ndlovu, Head of English said ‘the resilience of the community at Cranbourne, students, staff and parents deserves this positive news and results; we are proud of all our students’.
Parents also played a vital role in this success. Many expressed their gratitude to the school for its unwavering support and commitment to their children’s education. One parent, Mrs Omosebi, mother of Josh said ‘when Josh joined Cranbourne it was at the start of Year 10, he has never looked back, I am so happy for him today, thank you’.
At a personal level there were great celebrations for students who joined late to the school, transitioning at a critical time; Ihor Fedchnko, Genya Krepko and Claire Kiragu all achieved grade 4 and above in English and Maths.
As the celebrations continue, Cranbourne’s focus remains on nurturing the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and creators. Today’s achievements are not just a reflection of past efforts but a foundation for future success. Miss Conlon concluded the day with words of inspiration, “To our students, remember that this is just the beginning. The world is full of opportunities, and with the skills and knowledge you have gained here at Cranbourne, there is nothing you cannot achieve. Congratulations to you all!”
